Stick with large well known web pages.

Install McAfee Site Advisor or WOT. Both rate web sites and place an icon in your web browser. I would not buy anything from a site that is not rated green and does not have a lot of reviews. Read the reviews. Often the reviews tell you a lot more than just the rating.

On the payment page it must be a secure page and indicated by a HTTPS in the URL

Many credit card companies and even Pay Pal offer free disposable credit card number that can only be used for one transaction. If they overcharge you can dispute it with your credit card company but it prevents them from using it more than once.

As long as you don’t use a checkcard and use a credit card, you don’t have much to worry about if someone gets your number, since all you have to do is report the fraud and the credit card company has to deal with the issue. If you use a checkcard, then the money comes right out of your checking account — not good even if your bank provides protection, since your checking account is drained until you can get in touch with someone to report the issue. With a credit card, the bank’s money is at stake and not yours.

For Mozilla Firefox:

When you visit a website, you can find if it is secure or not by looking at the browser bar (which contains the web address). If their is a light blue thing shaded before the web address, then it is digitally secure. Also, after the web address, their sometimes is a small construction-colored lock. This means it is verisign-secure.

BUT, this does NOT tell you anything. It just means it does not steal your credit-card information. However, if you sign for a subscription service, they still charge you for something like a free trial. You MUST read their TOS, take pictures etc, just in case they charge you.

The majority of websites are not-fradulent and have nice customer service.

A easy way to check is to just type into google the website you want, followed by “scam”

So, google would look like “google scam”. Read through some links, and determine with good judgement if you think it is a scam.

Also, you can install WOT, search it, as a Mozilla Firefox plugin, and they will tell you warnings on whether a site is safe.

well i dont really buy stuff online because i dont trust it at all but like i think it asks u more personal stuff like bank number and stuff like that.
